March 23, 2016
Greetings Cayuse 424 User Community,
FORMS-D is nearly upon us! Beginning March 25, NIH will start posting packages on Grants.gov using the new forms. Here’s a summary of what you need to know as you are working on your proposals:
- As most of you know, every couple of years NIH does a major overhaul of their form sets. We’re currently on FORMS-C. FORMS-D will be required for all proposals due on or after May 25, 2016.
- Cayuse 424 will be updated to include support for FORMS-D in version 7.0, which is expected to be released on April 9, 2016.
- During the transition, which is basically now-ish until May 25, NIH will start reissuing existing opportunities in a new FORMS-D version. This means when you download an NIH opportunity from Grants.gov, you may get two packages; one in FORMS-C and one in FORMS-D.
- Support has updated the KnowledgeBase to include the answers to common questions, but there are really only two things to remember:
- The form version is shown in both the “Competition ID” and “Competition Title” fields. If the proposal is due on or after May 25, you should choose FORMS-D.
- If you were already working on a proposal due on or after May 25th and a new opportunity package is released, the existing proposal must be transformed to utilize FORMS-D. Instructions are here.
