Research Development encompasses a set of strategic, proactive, catalytic, and capacity-building activities designed to facilitate individual faculty members and teams of researchers in obtaining extramural research funding, building strategic networks, and developing and implementing strategies that increase institutional competitiveness (nordp.org).
The Office of Research Development provides strategic grantsmanship advice and support to faculty in their pursuit of extramural funding. We work with investigators to identify targeted grant opportunities that lead towards the development of competitive research proposals. Our outreach activities and training, workshops, individual and team consultations, and related services strengthen both proposal and career development as well as hone integral collaboration skills. Our team is dedicated to providing these services while supporting the university's strategic research pillars and growing our Research Enterprise.
Our charge includes four main Research Development activities: Strategic Research Advancement, Communication of Research and Research Opportunities, Enhancement of Collaboration and Team Science, and Proposal Development.
