Request for Proposals - UC Global Health Institute

January 12, 2016

The University of California Global Health Institute (UCGHI) is pleased to announce the following funding opportunity for new or existing Centers of Expertise (COEs). The total award pool available is $400,000 per annum, divided between two COEs that will be selected through this process. The funding period will begin August 1, 2016. Proposals may request up to three years of funding from UCGHI1.

Letters of Intent (LOIs) to apply are due Friday, February 19, 2016.

Full Proposals are due Friday, April 1, 2016.

Deadlines and application requirements will be strictly adhered to with no exceptions. LOIs will be used to confirm eligibility and for administrative purposes to establish the size and scope of the review only. It is not an elimination step. Awards for COEs selected through this competition are contingent on availability of funding.

The academic programs of UCGHI will be partially organized around the Centers of Expertise. The first UCGHI COE competition was held in 2009. Three COEs were established after an extensive proposal development and selection process engaging faculty and staff from across the University of California. Background information about the three existing UCGHI COEs is available at http://www.ucghi.universityofcalifornia.edu/coes/index.aspx. Two COEs will be funded through the current opportunity. Each COE will administer its own programs and budget, with annual financial and programmatic reporting due to the UCGHI Director and Co-Director for review and consolidated evaluation by the Board.
