Invitation to Destination Europe Event

February 12, 2015, San Jose, CA

European Commission would like to draw your attention to the upcoming Destination Europe event which will take place on 12 February 2015 in San José, California, and which may be of interest to research faculty, post-docs and graduate students at UC Merced.
 
The event will showcase research career and funding opportunities in Europe for researchers of any nationality, at all stages of their researchcareers.   The event will include concrete information on European Union programmes as well as programmes and initiatives in individual European countries.
 
Since Destination Europe was launched in 2012, almost 1500 people have attended Destination Europe conferences and have been very enthusiastic in their feedback on the events.
 
We would appreciate if you would forward this invitation throughout the University to your colleagues and studentswho might be interested to learn about research opportunities in Europe. We want to be sure that any potentially interested person is aware of the event and can register.
 
Participation is free but prior registration is essential.

Grant Writing Institute 2015

It's that time of year again: Research Development Services in the Office of Research and Economic Development is offering our Grant Writing Institute 2015 from April 13 - April 17, 2015, with workshops and information on new strategies and techniques to help plan, prepare and submit winning research grant proposals. Presenters will include experts in the field of grantmanship as well as senior UC Merced faculty.

The Institute is open to all ladder rank faculty; most sessions are geared towards faculty at the Assistant Professor level although the sessions on Team Science, Grant Writing in the Social Sciences and Humanities and on Federal Agencies would be valuable for faculty at all levels. Participants are welcome to attend the entire session or choose from among the different sessions.  We may have a limited number of slots available for graduate students, postdocs or staff involved in preparing research proposals.

7th Annual NORDP Research Development Conference
April 29 - May 1, 2015 • Bethesda, MD

The 7th Annual NORDP Research Development Conference will be held April 29 - May 1, 2015 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel in Bethesda, Maryland. The conference is a three-day event focused on understanding key trends in federal and private research funding, large-scale proposal development by interdisciplinary research teams, and implementation of strategic initiatives that foster institutional competitiveness.

Prominent keynote speakers will be present from several federal and private agencies, and breakout sessions will incorporate topics such as facilitating team science, proposal development, systems and tools for tracking research productivity, building research development infrastructure, research development in an undergraduate setting, and more.

  • University advancement officials

The 2015 Conference Registration Fee is $450 for NORDP members (this includes an early-bird discount; after 3/13/15 the price will increase by $50.) Additional pricing is listed below.
